Wir besuchen die beiden Auhonig-Imkerinnen Petra und Theresa Dirtl im Gemeinschaftsgarten »Grüner Daumen« in der Lobau und spazieren anschliessend in den Nationalpark Donau-Auen. Bei der Arbeit am Bienenstock erfahren wir Wissenswertes und Kurioses über die Bienen. Der Verlauf der Wanderung bleibt offen: Was wird uns in der Au wohl begegnen?

»Weg von der Arbeit« ist Teil des Buchprojekts »Au-Wege«: Interview-Wanderungen durch den Nationalpark Donau-Auen.

Über das Projekt »Au Wege«: Der Nationalpark Donau-Auen grenzt direkt an Wien, ist die letzte, große Fluss-Au Mitteleuropas und beherbergt eine enorme Artenvielfalt. Diese wird jedoch von diversen Großbauprojekten bedroht. Die fünf »Au Wege«-Publikationen möchten Leser für den Schutz dieses wertvollen Lebensraumes sensibilisieren und zu einer Wanderung durch die Donau-Auen ermuntern. Eine Publikation besteht aus zwei Formaten: Das kleinformatige »Wanderbuch« enthält ein »Walking Interview« mit einem/r Nationalpark-Spezialisten/In zu einem Thema und eine Wegekarte zum Nachwandern der Route. Das Großformat dokumentiert die Wanderung fotografisch und lässt den Leser in den Nationalpark eintauchen. Weiters wurde ein neues Logo für den Nationalpark entworfen.

We are going to visit the »Auhonig«-Beekeepers Petra and Theresa Dirtl in the community garden »Grüner Daumen« (Green thumb) in the Lobau and will talk a walk into the Danube National Park. While working at the beehive we will gain interesting and fun insights about the fascinating insects. The course of the hike remains open: What are we going to discover in the forest?

About the Project »Ways through the Danube Forest«: The Danube National Park is situated right at the border of the city of Vienna. As the last major flood plain in central Europe it contains an enormous biodiversity. Unfortunately it is currently threatened by various huge construction projects. Five different publications have been created to draw attention to this precious habitat and motivate readers to visit the Danube flood plains. One publication consists of two formats: The small formatted »Hiking Book« contains a »Walking Interview« with a National Park specialist about a specific topic and a hiking-map to retrace the route. The large format documents the hike in pictures and enables the reader to immerse himself into the national park. Furthermore a new logo was created for the Danube National Park.
