While fermentation often appears as a self-help method, it also represents a means of assurement – materially in the form of food storage, and metaphorically as it prolongs one’s cultural heritage or even feeling of self-sufficiency. This project considers fermentation as an object of research and as a way of addressing collective futures. It is an introduction to an ongoing observation of social ferments in times of global meltdown.
